Sugaring Hair Removal: Frequently Asked Questions

Sugar is a golden paste made of three natural ingredients: Sugar, lemon and water. It’s chemical free and so natural, you can eat it! ...but it's not recommended

Sugaring is a gentle, natural method of hair removal that uses a simple blend of sugar, lemon, and water. Unlike traditional waxing, sugaring adheres only to the hair and not the skin, making it a less abrasive option that is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

This method removes hair in the natural direction of growth, which helps minimize breakage, reduces irritation, and lowers the risk of ingrown hairs. Because the paste is applied at body temperature and made from natural ingredients, it is a safer, more comfortable alternative to waxing.

  • 100% natural ingredients with no synthetic additives

  • Less irritation and redness compared to waxing

  • Removes shorter hairs (as short as 1/16 inch)

  • Water-soluble paste allows for easy cleanup

  • Suitable for sensitive skin and delicate areas

  • Can lead to finer, softer regrowth over time

Sugaring is ideal for clients seeking a natural and skin-friendly approach to hair removal.

We recommend you grow your hair out for at least 2-3 weeks after shaving and for at least 4 weeks after waxing. Hair should be 1/8 of an inch (length of a grain of rice).

For the best results, make sure your hair is long enough, ideally about the length of a grain of rice so the sugar paste can grip it effectively. Avoid shaving for at least 2-3 weeks before your visit.

Gently exfoliate the area a day or two before your appointment to remove dead skin cells and help prevent ingrown hairs. On the day of your appointment, keep the area clean and avoid applying any lotions, oils, or deodorants, as these can affect how well the sugar adheres to the hair.

It’s also best to avoid sun exposure or tanning before your session, as this can make the skin more sensitive. Wearing loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment can help reduce irritation afterward, especially if you're receiving a bikini or body treatment.

If you’re unsure about anything or have specific skin concerns, feel free to reach out before your appointment.

Most appointments usually take 15 - 45 minutes depending on the service your receiving.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so at least 24 hours before your appointment. Anything after a 24 hours notice is subject to a fee of 50% of the reserved service. Please contact me directly @ (949) 397- 7886 (text message). This courtesy allows me to offer that time to another client.

Depending on your hair, every 4 - 6 weeks.

Yes, we do!  We have two membership options. Our Standard Brazilian Membership (for female anatomy) is just $58 per month (regularly $65), and it includes one Brazilian service each month, charged on the 1st of every month. Our Extended Brazilian Membership (for male anatomy) offers one Brazilian service per month as well at $85 per month (regularly $95). Both are a great way to save on your monthly treatments and keep your routine consistent.

For the first 24 hours, try to avoid: heavy sweating, hot baths, tanning, intimacy and exfoliating the area to prevent irritation.

You can continue to exfoliate the skin 48-72 hours after your appointment.

If needed, product(s) will be recommended after the service based on skin and hair type to prevent ingrown hairs.

To help prevent ingrown hairs, we recommend adding our Ingrown Rescue (detoxifies and exfoliates) and/or Hydrating Mask (nourishes and hydrates) right after your Brazilian service.

At-home care is key for keeping the skin smooth and healthy. Regular exfoliation and consistent hydration in the sugared areas are essential for preventing buildup and ingrowns. During your appointment, your esthetician will recommend the right products based on your skin and hair type. We carry everything you need to keep your skin balanced, clear and comfortable after sugaring.

Although sugaring is a more gentle method of hair removal, it is still hair removal. Anytime you extract a hair from the hair follicle, you’re going to feel some degree of pain. On the bright side, pain is substantially reduced if you consistently sugar, and because sugar doesn’t stick, or cause damage to the skin, you won’t have any stinging or burning once the service is completed.

You can always take an over-the-counter pain medicine 30-60 minutes before your appointment.

Absolutely! As long as you wear a clean tampon or menstrual cup during your appointment.

(You can be more sensitive during your cycle due to blood flow)

Yes!  Sugaring is a safe option during pregnancy, and we actually highly recommend booking our Prenatal Brazilian service. It's tailored for expectant clients, and we add additional time at no extra cost, ensuring you get the most comfortable experience possible.
